Permission Forms

Middle School Weekly Programs

While there is no fee for Middle School Faith Formation, registration is required. Registration forms will only be available at the parent orientation sessions.

urgency

Every Sunday night, starting in late September from 6:00PM to 7:30PM, all middle school students are invited to OLC for URGENCY . Nights focus on encountering Christ, finding our identity in Christ and being a disciple of Christ. Nights include music, fellowship, recreation, a brief sharing, small groups, prayer and on various night's opportunities to participate in service projects. Each week a parent handout will be sent home from URGENCY explaining the topic of the night as well as information for upcoming activities. Don't forget - from 7:30PM to 7:45PM we'll have open gym, music and the "Urgency Snack Bar" will be open to purchase snacks with your "Urgency Bucks"! Please consult the Faith Formation Calendar to verify program locations and times.

edge

A little more comfortable with a smaller crowd? Join us on Wednesday nights, starting in late September from 6:15PM to 7:30PM, for Edge . These nights also focus on encountering Christ, finding our identity in Christ and being disciples of Christ. Topics are similar to those proclaimed at URGENCY , but activities are tweaked a bit to create a unique experience.

New this year! - A mentor program called "Faith Friends" will take place one Wednesday night a month. Middle school youth will lead elementary youth through a series of activities during this night.

Parent Open Houses

On a quarterly basis we will invite you to join your middle schooler(s) as you BOTH dive deeper into our Catholic faith by partaking in small group, listening to a sharing, spending time in prayer, and simply setting the example that growing closer to Christ IS important! What a great way to invest in your youth's eternity! Dates for 2013 will be announced at a later time.

Middle School Sacramental Programs

Confirmation

Through the sacrament of Confirmation, a person celebrates the full outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and is renewed in his/her commitment to their Catholic faith. Confirmation is a deepening and maturing of our Christian identity, not the end of faith formation.

At Our Lady of Consolation, preparation includes of a series of Youth/Parent(s) and Youth/Sponsor sessions engaging and exploring the elements of the Sacrament of Confirmation. These sessions begin in the winter of a youth's eighth grade year. Confirmation candidates are also strongly encouraged to register for middle school faith formation in August and regularly participate by joining us for Urgency on Sunday nights or Edge on Wednesday nights. The Sacrament of Confirmation information is located on the The Sacrament of Confirmation page.

Middle School Retreats

Lenten Retreat

Every year, we hold an overnight Lenten Retreat that is designed to further deepen the student's relationship with Jesus Christ. An overnight retreat gives teens an opportunity to get away from the busy world of school, sports, band, homework, etc. to spend time during Lent preparing their heart. We include great speakers, peer ministry team, music, skits, dramas, Mass and various times/types of worship. More information on the 2013 retreat will be available soon.

Middle School Special Events

Middle School SHINE Youth Rally

Every year we attend the Middle School SHINE Youth Rally that is hosted by the Diocese of Grand Rapids. This day long rally offers inspiring speakers, music, recreation, snacks, dinner and Mass. More information on the 2013 Rally will be available soon.
